The Midhurst Busker’s Circuit!
Register Your Interest As a Busker!
We want to set up a regular, well publicised rotation of buskers here in Midhurst, hosted by some of our high street hospitality (and maybe retail!) venues.
We’re looking for jazz and blues related solo or duo acts, with a simple set up and break-down, suitable for confined spaces (cafes, pubs, even shops, etc).
We’re not talking major performances, just something easy and engaging, and something that certainly continues the spirit we established with last year’s festival that Midhurst is a special place, a home for jazz and blues, whether it’s improvisations around old standards, or new, innovative forms of jazz and blues.
And we have a pretty good marketing platform, incouding a PR firm that issues press releases, and some really enthusiastic support from several local and regional on line and print media partners. So once we’ve got this project organised we will publicise the project, the programme, the venues and the arists regularly.
So a few logistiocs…
We don’t supply P.A. etc..
You will be free to accept busking tips (maybe you have a hat, or a card reader) or venues will be open to encouraging their customers to add something to their bill which will go straight to you. We will confirm that with the venues beforehand of course.
Venues will also offer you a meal and drink, a comfortable spot to play, a warm smile, and hopefully a willing audience.
We’re trying to encourage people to come to Midhurst during the day, to have fun, combine it with meeting friends perhaps. But we want them to get in the habit of knowing that there will always be some music at certain venues at certain times. Consistency and reliability are key.
First step is to build up a list of artists who are interesed in participating. We’ll then need to finalise an approved list.
So if you fancy it, use the form opposite to provide your contact details, a little bit of background about you and your music, and upload 2-3 audio samples of your music, plus up to 3 videos of you playing (as you would be if you were busking…so don’t show us a video of you playing in a five piece band at Ronnie Scotts!)
Then give us a little time to come back to you! Bear in mind we also need to set up a scheduling system and co-ordinate with venues so it might take a few weeks!
Thank you.
Adam.
